My Approach to Breeding Border Collies

At Bordermeade Border Collies, my goal is simple.
I strive to breed well-adjusted, loyal, healthy, and happy puppies with excellent temperaments and sound conformation.

My focus is on producing dogs that:
     • Fit into real family life
     • Have the ability to participate in dog sports if desired
     • Are resilient and able to handle everyday challenges and environments
Border Collies are intelligent and capable dogs, but they need the right foundation.
Everything I do is aimed at setting my puppies up to succeed in a variety of homes.

Why I Chose the Border Collie

I grew up in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, and there was always a dog around.
But the dog that truly shaped my direction was my Border Collie x Kelpie while my children were growing up.
She was:
     • Intelligent
     • Well-behaved
     • Loyal
     • Easy to live with
It showed me just how good the right dog can be—and from that point on, I knew I would one day focus on breeding Border Collies.

Experience With Breeding & Animals

Breeding is not new to me.
Throughout my life, I have bred and cared for :
     • Horses and ponies
     • Cattle
     • Pigs
     • Pet mice
     • Homing Pigeons
This background has given me a strong understanding of:
     • Responsible breeding practices
     • Animal health and care
     • Raising young animals correctly
I brought that same mindset and experience into my dog breeding program.
I welcomed my first breeding girl in early 2021, and my first litter was born in 2023.

Training & Development

I actively work with my dogs through obedience training, with a focus on creating well-mannered and manageable companions.
Good behaviour doesn’t happen by accident—it comes from consistent guidance, structure, and clear expectations.
This carries through into how my puppies are raised.

My Bloodlines & Breeding Focus

My dogs are predominantly from show lines, selected for:
     • Structure
     • Temperament
     • Overall balance
While I value these qualities, I do not actively show.
After over 30 years of showing ponies, I chose to focus my time and energy on raising and developing my dogs instead.

Memberships & Commitment to Standards

I am committed to responsible breeding and ongoing learning.
I am a member of:
     • Dogs NSW (ANKC)
     • Port Macquarie Dog Obedience Club
These affiliations help ensure I am breeding to recognised standards and continuing to develop my knowledge.

Do you show your dogs?

3 of my dogs come from show lines, 1 comes from agility lines and the other is an all round gorgeous girl with a farm background. I do not actively show. My focus is on breeding and raising quality dogs for real homes.

I have extensive experience breeding and raising horses, ponies, cattle, and pigs, and I apply that knowledge to my dog breeding program.

Yes. My dogs live as part of my home and daily life, not in kennels.

I breed predominantly show-line Border Collies, with a focus on temperament, structure, and suitability for family life or dog sports.
