health testing & breeding practices

Are your Border Collies health tested?

Yes, all of my breeding dogs undergo comprehensive health testing.
This includes full DNA testing through Orivet, as well as hip and elbow scoring.
These tests help reduce the risk of inherited conditions and are an important part of responsible breeding.

I provide a lifetime health guarantee against life-threatening or permanently debilitating genetic conditions.
My goal is to breed healthy, sound dogs, and I stand behind the puppies I produce. If you ever have concerns, I’m always here to support you.

are border collies the right dog for you?

Are Border Collies good family dogs?

Border Collies can make wonderful family dogs in the right home.
They are intelligent, loyal, and thrive when they are included in daily life.
However, they are an active breed that needs both physical exercise and mental stimulation.
I’m always happy to help you decide whether a Border Collie is the right fit for your lifestyle.

They can be, but only if you’re prepared to invest time into training and engagement.
Border Collies are quick learners, but they do best with structure, consistency, and clear guidance.
If you’re unsure, I’m happy to talk through your situation and help you decide.

Border Collies are a high-energy, working breed.
They need regular exercise, but just as importantly, they need mental stimulation and engagement.
Training, enrichment, and being involved in daily activities all play a big role in keeping them happy and well-balanced.

When raised and socialised properly, Border Collies can do very well with children and other animals.
My puppies are exposed to a variety of people and animals early on to help build confidence and adaptability.

raising a border collie puppy

Are your puppies toilet trained?

Puppies are introduced to toilet training before they go home, using my setup and routine.
While they won’t be fully trained at 8 weeks, they have a strong foundation, which makes the transition much easier for new owners.

Yes, puppies are introduced to crate exposure as part of their early development.
This helps them feel more comfortable with confinement and makes crate training easier once they go home.

Puppy Culture is an early development program that focuses on building confidence, resilience, and adaptability in young puppies.
I use it as part of how I raise my litters to give them a strong, structured start before they go to their new homes.

Before your puppy comes home, it’s important to have the basics ready.
This includes a safe sleeping area, food, water bowls, toys, and a plan for training and routine.
I also provide guidance to help you feel confident and prepared for those first few weeks.

bringing your puppy home

When can puppies go home?

Puppies are ready to go home from 8 weeks of age.
Where possible, I prefer them to leave closer to 60 days, as this allows for a smoother transition and helps support their development.

Yes, transport can be arranged within Australia at the buyer’s expense.
While I do prefer puppies to be collected in person where possible, I understand this isn’t always practical and I’m happy to discuss suitable options.

Yes, I do allow visits, but I manage timing carefully to protect the health of my puppies.
For biosecurity reasons, I don’t allow visitors during the very early weeks.
Visits usually begin once puppies are around 3–4 weeks of age.
Around this time, I also take the puppies to South West Rocks for cuddles, which gives families an opportunity to meet them in a relaxed environment.
I also offer an open day when puppies are 6–7 weeks old, so you can spend more time with them before they go home.
This approach helps keep the puppies safe while still giving you the chance to meet them and be part of the experience.
